Collective Power Conference

The Collective Power Conference is a gathering of diverse ideas, perspectives, & leaders.

We know you’ve been waiting to hear from us about our annual conference. In careful consideration of the public health situation and our duty to our community, we have decided not to host a large, 3-day public gathering this year.

Please see our message below for more details, and information about virtual events in spring 2022!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE ON THE CONFERENCE

We know you’ve been waiting to hear from us about our annual conference. In careful consideration of the public health situation and our duty to our community, we have decided not to host a large, 3-day public gathering this year.

We have put a lot of thought and reflection into this and have decided that as an organization dedicated to the mission of reproductive justice, we cannot commit to a format that could put our community at risk and exclude people who are the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the same time, it is impossible to ignore the threat our movement faces. The pandemic has exacerbated our already heightened political struggles, and it will take bold collective and collaborative action to re-imagine what reproductive justice will look like in our future.

That is why we will convene a small group of advocates virtually and (if possible) in person to discuss the challenges we face as a movement.  This is a critical moment to think about how we build a broad coalition of support for our movement and explore how white supremacy, intertwined with patriarchy and capitalism, is the connective tissue that joins the issues.  We know that reproductive justice is central to the fight against white supremacy, fascism, nativism, and anti-immigrant xenophobia, and our intention for this gathering is to begin to articulate the ways we can reach across movement silos in this fight.

The format of this convening will be determined by the public health situation, and we may open a small registration for a portion of this convening if in-person programming is safe. We anticipate there will be other ways for us to share the results of this convening with our communities — for example, by making some discussions available as videos and/or podcasts, presenting the results in a virtual event, hosting discussions or conversations around these issues with our organizational partners, and many more possibilities.  We will be sure to share more as the process progresses.

We will also be hosting some virtual panels and events through the months of March and April.  Please see below for more information and stay tuned for announcements of other online events!

While this format does not bring all the advantages or comforts of our annual conference, we hope it will provide an opportunity to exchange bold ideas for our movement while also keeping our community safe.  In the meantime, we are also currently reviewing applications for the 2022 Collective Rising Internship cohort, and are excited to support a group of 35 incredible next-generation leaders through this program.

We hope that with our actions today, we will help decrease the spread of COVID-19 so that our communities can be safe to gather once again.
