In February, Collective Power board member Senti Sojwal convened a reproductive justice happy hour panel in Brooklyn, New York for women and queers of color in reproductive justice. Senti brought together movement leaders Lori Adelman, Ericka Ayodele Dixon, Verónica Bayetti Flores, and Shivana Jorawar, Esq. for an insightful conversation on how we move in this moment.

Together, they envisioned what organizing can look and feel like in 2026. Here are the top highlights and insights from the evening:

The next frontier in the reproductive justice movement is abortion mobility 

As more states restrict access to abortions and the options for birthing people become fewer in different parts of the country, the privilege to travel has become all the more important. Panelists discussed mobility and access to travel as a crucial component of the movement’s strategy in our fight for reproductive justice.

We must make organizing for reproductive justice fun and engaging 

Panelists discussed lessons from Zohran Mamdani’s compelling campaign win and the energy that mobilized so many young people. They talked about aligning our values with our actions to meet people where they are and make our movements more inclusive.

Infusing our organizing with creativity is how we win

It’s no secret: the right is building its power through strong incentives and targeted outreach campaigns, like paying social media influencers to continue producing content that promotes the right-wing agenda. Panelists discussed the challenges the left faces with organizing at scale, and the need for creativity to incentivize participation and bring people to our movement. 

The evening was a beautiful reminder that when we all come together, we can envision and take action on a brighter future for us all.
