A long-time reproductive rights activist, Marlene is well known nationally and internationally as a writer, lecturer, and advocate for reproductive freedom. She was the founding president of the National Network of Abortion Funds and the Abortion Rights Fund of Western Massachusetts. She has worked on abortion advocacy internationally with the Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights and recently joined the board of Women Help Women.
Marlene was the Interim President of Hampshire College in 2010-2011, and is a Professor Emerita of Philosophy at Hampshire College. She was the founding director of the Five College Certificate in Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice, and from 2017-2018, she was a visiting scholar at the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown Law School.
